Disconnect and connect: The art of play in the sand

  • Summer is the season for digital disconnection, but it's also the best time for real connection. Is there anything better than the sound of the waves and the laughter of family?

The 5 beach and water games to rule the sand

  • The Underground Treasure Hunt (The Concentrator)

    What you need?: A shovel or spoon, a small "treasure" (a stone, a shell, or a key), and a timer to keep track of time.

    How to Play:

    1. While your team isn't looking, bury the treasure somewhere in the playing area (define clear boundaries, ideally marked by your GINASOMMER Beach Blanket).

    2. The challenge is to unearth the treasure in the shortest time possible, using only the shovel/spoon.

    3. Pro Twist: Add fake coordinates or confusing clues for the adults, or a map drawn with sticks for the kids. The one who finds the treasure fastest wins the right not to pack up at the end of the day!

  • Towel Volleyball (The Coordinator)

    What you need?: Two towels or beach blankets (use your GINASOMMER Towel!), and a light ball (or even a water balloon).

    How to Play:

    1. Divide players into two teams of two people. Each pair holds one of the towels by the corners.

    2. The goal is to use the towel like a sling to launch the ball over the imaginary "net" toward the opposing team, and for the receiving team to catch it using their own towel, without letting it touch the ground.

    3. Pro Twist: If you're playing near the shore, an extra point if you manage to make the catcher fall into the water! This game is excellent for fostering teamwork.

  • Sand Statues (The Artist)

    What you need?: Only sand, water, and a couple of GINASOMMER Caps to protect the sculptors from the sun.

    How to Play:

    1. This is an elimination game based on voting and creativity. Choose a theme (e.g., "Fantastic Beasts," "Giant Food," or "Summer Architecture").

    2. Each player has 10 minutes to create their best sand sculpture inspired by the theme.

    3. When the alarm sounds, everyone votes. You cannot vote for yourself. The least-voted statue or the one that collapses first is eliminated.

  • The Drinkware Race (The Hydration Challenge)

    What you need?: A GINASOMMER thermal drinkware for each team (or player) and an empty bucket.

    How to Play:

    1. Draw a starting line in the sand and place an empty bucket about 10 meters away.

    2. The first player runs toward the sea, fills their drinkware with water, runs back, and empties it into the bucket.

    3. Pass the drinkware to the next player. The goal is for the team to fill the bucket up to the marked finish line using only the water transported in the drinkware.

  • The Flag Rescue (The Endurance Test)

    What you need?: A branch or stick for the flag and your Beach Blanket or Towel for the safe zone.

    How to Play:

    1. Plant a "flag" in the wet sand. Players take turns removing sand from around the base, creating a moat.

    2. The player who causes the flag to fall or the base to collapse loses the round.

    3. Pro Twist: Players who have lost retreat to the GINASOMMER Textiles safe zone to rest and rehydrate, waiting for the next round.
